Dan
& Gina Ruediger, Owners
| Dan and Gina both started riding as children. Gina showed a
few different horses and disciplines before winding up with a collection of
Arabian horses as a junior rider. In fact, they still have a horse Gina has had
for twenty years, "Khutty", by Khuttysark who is by the famous Khemosabi. His
job now is to baby-sit the farm's foals. In the late 1980's, Gina and her
mother bought their first warmblood for dressage and since then, Gina has been
focused on and enjoying dressage. |

Dan started off riding
and competing Welsh ponies when he was just a small child, then showed hunters
before switching to western and showing on the Quarter Horse Circuit. Dan
trained with Tim Whitney in Southern California and in the late 80's and early
90's competed throughout California, Arizona, Oklahoma and Texas. In 1992, Dan
qualified and competed at the AQHA World Championships and won a number of west
coast titles.
Dan and Gina met in 1990
at a horse farm where Dan worked during college. After college and graduate
school, they started riding Gina's Hanoverian gelding together. Although they
were both lifetime riders, they took dressage lessons to learn the sport more
intensely. Soon, they were looking for their next dressage horse. In the late
1990's, they acquired an Oldenburg registered foal from a Dutch mare line and
started their pursuit to learn more about Dutch horses.
Always impressed with the Dutch horses for their modern
athleticism, they began researching different pedigrees and bloodlines. They
purchased a couple of Dutch horses with diverse pedigrees and in 2001, and then
purchased the land their farm currently resides on and started to build the
facility of Sonnenberg Farm.
Today, Dan
and Gina, along with their kids Mason and Daria, live on the farm in the home
they built. The family rides together and Dan and Gina compete in dressage and
in dressage sporthorse breeding classes with their young horses. Dan and Gina
continue to visit Holland and Germany to purchase horses and enhance their
knowledge and education.
